Floss Teeth Regularly
One way to maintain healthy gums is to clean your teeth on a regular basis. It is best to brush twice a day and floss at least once a day.
Flossing helps remove food particles and plaque between the teeth. To floss properly, hold the dental floss tightly between your thumbs and forefingers and gently guide it between your teeth.

Brush Teeth Regularly

Massage Your Gums
In addition to flossing and brushing, massaging your gums is helpful to maintaining healthy gums. Massaging the gums increases blood circulation and helps reduce redness and puffiness.
With clean fingertips, gently massage the outside and inside of your gums at least once a day. If you prefer, you can use essential oils such a peppermint and wintergreen. They have antiseptic properties that help increase blood flow.
Eat Healthy Foods
You should incorporate calcium enriched foods in your diet to maintain and improve the health of your gums. Calcium strengthens the gums, which will lead to less tooth loss. Some foods rich in calcium include yogurt, cheese and milk.
Fresh fruits, green leafy vegetables, whole grains, fish, salmon, tuna and nuts should also be eaten. These foods are packed with powerful antioxidants such as the vitamins C, E and D that will help fight bacteria.
